SOUTH END — A South End man was reportedly seen paying $20 for a single shot at a bar in South End, in an event locals are calling “embarrassing” and “just sad.” The man, seen fleeing shortly after paying for his outrageously expensive tab, is described by eyewitnesses as a White male, 5 foot 10, and an all-around “huge loser.”
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Sandra Kerson, a 23-year-old present at the scene of the losering. “Well, I have. Every time I go clubbing in South End. But that doesn’t make it any less painful to watch.”
The incident occurred at around 11:30 PM EST at Resident Culture, the taproom on W Bland Street, which on weekends transforms into a nightclub straight out of a bad steampunk fever dream, complete with murderous red lighting, Edison-style bulbs, and a terrifying motorcycle of death hanging precariously from the ceiling. The bar is also one of many in South End rumored to charge by the milliliter, ensuring every shot costs just under a semester of college tuition.
“I want to feel bad for the guy,” said eyewitness Gregory Penko. “But the nearest ABC store is a 7-minute walk from the bar. For the same amount, he could’ve bought a handle of Tito’s and taken pulls in the Seoul Foods parking lot like the rest of us.”
The shot in question was a rare type of spicy, distilled dirt known as Fireball.
