The Charlotten Finalizes Rebrand With Iconic Uptown Installation

UPTOWN — Following a brief period of corporate restructuring and visual identity exploration, local media institution The Charlotten has officially unveiled its new permanent headquarters in the heart of Uptown Charlotte.

The move was finalized Thursday afternoon with the installation of the brand’s new logo—a teal and black jester’s cap—atop the 54-story Duke Energy Center.

The rebrand follows a high-profile intellectual property dispute with Chicago-based Global Tetrahedron LLC. While The Charlotten has maintained that the conflict stemmed from a fundamental misunderstanding of satirical trade dress, the publication elected to move forward with a more sophisticated, serif-forward identity in order to eliminate any further distractions from its core mission.

“We would never want to insinuate that the parties who initiated this dispute were cowards, hypocrites, or general bores,” said The Editor. “That would be wildly unprofessional. We simply realized that our genius was being throttled by the whims of the Midwest.”

The spokesperson also noted that the elevated vantage point allows for superior surveillance of the local “Axis of Evil,” specifically citing Queen City Nerve, The Charlotte Ledger, Axios Charlotte, and WFAE. “We would include the Charlotte Observer in this watch-list,” the spokesperson added, “but as per our previous reporting, they were recently acquired for the price of a single paperclip and are no longer considered a strategic threat.”

All Wells Fargo employees were asked to vacate the premises earlier Thursday afternoon, which sources say was “probably something the company itself was planning to do anyway.”
